Leadership Institute

The Leadership Institute for Retirees provides training in senior issues, benefits, programs and challenges. 2010 will be the fourth exciting year for the Leadership Institute, through which SARCOA is building a community of volunteer leaders and advocates.

Volunteers attend eight free sessions usually beginning in February or March. Certificates will be awarded at the end of the course. No academic credit will be given.  Leadership Institute graduates will join previous graduates who continue to volunteer with SARCOA for various projects, programs and initiatives. Each graduate volunteers only in the areas of their interest. Our volunteer group, Senior Advocates for the Elderly, has been a valuable resource and helped our programs serve more people.  We are proud of our Senior Advocates and appreciate all they do for us.

Retirees who want to make a difference in their communities enjoy being a part of the Leadership Institute. Volunteering to help others is the key to healthy, fulfilling and meaningful lives. It keeps people involved. It's great for the retiree and everyone touched by their efforts. Retirees bring with them many years of experience and skills. People often do not realize the impact they have, or can have, on the lives of others.

The Leadership Institute is sponsored and funded by SARCOA.  For more information contact SARCOA at 334-793-6843 or 1-800-239-3507.
