SenioRx/Wellness is a program for Alabamians age 55+ and persons with disabilities diagnosed with chronic medical conditions requiring daily medication. The program aims to help people manage their chronic illnesses and prevent more serious health problems later in life.
Because the high cost of prescription drugs can be a burden, we strive to reduce economic stress, promote better health and improve the quality of life for Alabama's older population by providing ways to reduce the expense of life-sustaining medications.
SenioRx is a partnership of state agencies and community organizations that assists seniors with applying for drug assistance programs that is provided by pharmaceutical manufacturers.
To be eligible for pharmaceutical assistance programs you must:
- be at least 55 years of age
- be a legal resident of Alabama
- have chronic medical conditions
- have NO prescription insurance coverage
- limited financial means (less than $21,660/1 person) ($29,140/2 people)
- If you are in the Medicare Part D coverage gap
- Disabled individuals of any age in the 24-month Medicare waiting period
