Home repairs can be a costly need, especially for seniors and disabled individuals who are on a low fixed income. This program directs groups looking for projects to individuals with minor safety and health-critical home repairs. Recipients are encouraged to share in the cost of the project if possible.

How can I help?

Below you will find a list of projects that currently need attention. Once you have looked over the list of needs and feel your group has identified a project that fits your skills, please contact our office at 334-793-6843 and reference the case number listed below.

We realize that not everyone can physically do the work or has the skills to do the job. However, there is a way that you can help. You can make a donation to help cover the cost of materials and supplies needed for the projects. No donation is too small or too large and can be made online by using a credit card or PayPal at the link below.

When making a donation, you can memorialize a loved one or pay tribute to someone while helping those in need. SARCOA will acknowledge all memorial and honorarium gifts. Please make a note in the comments section on PayPal.

Home repair assistance is requested for a 64 year old female living alone in a mobile home (that she owns) in city of Dothan. Member has asthma that is currently well managed, as well as, some knee problems that occasionally flair up and cause mobility issues. During those times, she uses a cane for transferring and ambulation. In order to promote safety and reduce her risk of falls, she requests help in securing her outside porch handrail. She put up the handrail herself for insurance purposes, but it is wobbly and ineffective. Her current staircase is fairly narrow which she reports is difficult to maneuver, especially with the useless handrail. Member has long pieces of wood that she would like installed on top of the current stair steps in order to widen the steps for easier access. The staircase itself seems quite solid. She is a precious individual and any assistance would be so appreciated!
