Farmers Market Coupons
From Don Wambles, Director, Farmers Market Authority
January 4, 2012
In the past, many seniors had to stand in long lines to receive Senior Farmers Market Nurtition Program (SFMNP) benefits and many never received them. We are striving to make the application process easier for seniors.
The Farmers Market Authority (FMA) has changed the method of applying for the SFMNP to an online application process through our website: www.buylocalalabama.com. This is the only way to apply. We know that some will say that the seniors we are trying to reach do not have or use computers and we understand that. Nevertheless, we believe that there are enough people that have computers who want to assist the elderly in our communities and will be glad to assist them with this online application.
To register for the SFMNP coupons and for more information, please visit www.buylocalalabama.com. On the FMA home page, click on SFMNP application. Follow the steps to complete the application and click on submit. Be sure to verify your information and that it states that your application has been successfully submitted. Completing the application does not guarantee receipt of SFMNP benefits due to the fact that funds are limited and not everyone who is eligible can be served. The first 59,000 applications received will be funded and the rec ipeitns will receive their checks in the mail.
